I recall vividly my first meeting with Giris. He was sitting in his office in Seymour Place, some twenty-two years ago, while the current Sager offices in nearby Seymour Street were being created. We chatted for some forty minutes about anything and everything - except work. Giris decided we could get on together - I as a professional adviser, he as a client. It was the beginning of a long, rewarding, amusing and at times stressful period working together! Giris was not always the easiest person to work with but I believe we understood each other well. His determination to immerse himself fully in his work was somehow beautifully balanced by the time and interest he took in the person and personality of those with whom he came into contact - within and outside the working environment. He showed a genuine interest in those he worked with as individuals and I so welcomed and respected his caring enquiries about my family. I shall never forget him. I shall smile as I think about him - and I shall miss him.
