It was 2012 in Val Morin Quebec and all the former staff were gathered to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Sivananda ashram. Giris was in Montreal preparing for the celebration of Amari getting married and he came up for a few hours to celebrate with all of us. I hadn't seen Giris since 1987 and he greeted Lakshmi and I very warmly with hugs and he invited us, along with a handful of other former staff that he also hadn't seen for a long time, to come down to Montreal and partake of the wedding celebrations. Giris was so close and loving to his family yet he looked on at everyone that he knew as part of his extended family and loved us as dearly. This was a rare gift that Giris had and I am grateful to have known him and to have been part of that extended family. Om Shanti Shanti Krishna
