Smithsonian visit

Thirty years ago, when he was in dc for a weekend, we went for a visit to the Smithsonian. Chandra took kumari one direction and giris, ravi and I went the other.  Giris set off the alarms touching a tiffany lamp, and the security guards came running. Chandra was cackling at us from the other side of the room  and I blamed the baby so we were fine..., for the moment.  But shortly after that  we went to the section with hindu statues and Giris wasn't touching, but still, leaning in too close and this time when the alarms went off, there were no apologies. Giris started telling the guards.. that america stole this art..  how do you think the arms were broken off....and brother you have been tricked into guarding what should be free for the world.. none of which was  enough and we were thrown out!! Chandra was laughing like hell and said that's why he didn't stay with us in the museum.

Fast forward 15 years and I was at the Smithsonian with our youngest son Giris (who is named after Giris) and we also got thrown out of the Smithsonian for him setting off the alarms!
When we called to share the story, giris laughed and said what did you expect when you gave him that name!

His presence has always been a strong one in our family,  and fortunately each of the children  were able to forge their own personal relationship with him. I am so grateful for the good karma to have had him in our lives.
