It was an Autum evening in 1973 at the Sivananda Yoga Ashram in Val Morin Canada Sumner was over and guests were gone only staff and Swami Vishnu were there We were getting ready for evening meditation in the dining hall and I had to go to registration building to get something. When I walked in there was this guy sitting on the couch, long frizzie hair hippie, I asked him what he was doing here. He told me his name was Frank and his mother had a summer cottage near by in Val David . Frank said he came to see the Swami I told him to come with me to the meditation . After the meditation Frank asked Swami Vishnu if he could join staff he wanted a change in his life. This was the beginning of the spiritual journey of the person we know as Giris We were both from Montreal and I had arrived there 3 months earlier. We're roommates for a while and experienced Ashram life together - Giris being the rebel non comfirmist. On both of us leaving Sivananda in early 80' life took us to different parts of the world as you know Giris in London and myself to Maui Hawaii. Last year Giris came for vacation to Maui and we connected. Felt this bond that we had from the days in Val Morin - gurubhais, spiritual brothers. In our time together I felt Giris's love of truth, wisdom ground in personal experience, caring nature, generosity and dedication to service. On November 14 I received a beautiful Diwali video(festival of Light) from Giris, the next day another gurubhai calls and let's me know Giris has left his body and merged into the Light.
